WaterColor Peacock Painting
Artist Victoria Yeldon
completed 10/23/16
This exotic bird has finally been finished, he took about 5 days in total. I had to buy 2 new colors before I started him because i was afraid i wouldn't be able to capture all his fine colors.
What did you find difficult with this painting?
I have a post from before outlining my concerns before i even started this highly requested bird watercolor painting (see here). I knew because of the amount of detail in this bird it was going to take longer than my other paintings i had previously done. Though it did take more time, I really enjoyed painting each feather with as much detail as i could get into them. The face is my favorite part of this painting, it's almost as if he is strongly staring at you. When i was done with the peacock himself, his white beak and white feather highlights didn't seem to pop enough for me so i took a risk and painted a yellow background behind him. Thankfully i didn't mess up any of my initial details on the peacock and the outcome i am truly pleased with.
Where am I in my goal to become an Abundant Artist?
I have been listening quite a bit recently to an influential speaker: Gary Vaynerchuk and his emphasis on Hard Work. Listening to him has put some steam into my engine and i have gotten alot done in the past few days. Website is up and running, I have updated my Artwork Collections page with most of my Watercolor Animal Painting Challenge pieces. I have started my Art For Sale page and need to update my Etsy page with more products. More work to do, but i can feel it coming together.
